Client: Delores Oblitey – London-born fashion designer and founder of Delores By Delores

Project Overview:
London-born fashion designer and brand owner Delores Oblitey reached out to us at the end of 2024. She was returning to Ghana for the first time since she was nine years old and wanted to introduce her brand to the Ghanaian market with a meaningful and memorable launch event.

Delores By Delores is a luxury ready-to-wear brand for the everyday person who enjoys wearable clothes with a twist and isn’t afraid to invite some colour into their life. Established in 2016, the eponymous label’s design aesthetic is rooted in colour, texture, and print. Delores creates narrative-led, intricate, playful, and conceptual knitwear that encourages men and women to push their sartorial boundaries and express themselves through fashion.

DēpART’s Role & Impact:

  • Secured the perfect event location and successfully negotiated a reasonable hire fee that aligned with the realities of a young, independent brand.

  • Built a trusted local events team to ensure smooth execution and cultural relevance.

  • Connected Delores with a reliable fixer to provide on-the-ground logistical and production support.

  • Leveraged our established creative network to attract an engaged, style-savvy audience eager to connect with both Delores and her brand.

Through our expertise in cultural engagement and event curation, we ensured that Delores’ reintroduction to Ghana was personal, powerful, and aligned with her brand’s narrative. The event not only celebrated her return home but also laid the foundation for deeper creative connections between her UK-based brand and Ghana’s vibrant fashion scene.

'Working with Akworkor Thompson has truly been such an amazing experience. Being a British Ghanaian who has never been back to Ghana as an adult. It was a complete wild card wanting to throw my first ever brand event there. Not knowing anyone there, Akworkor stepped in and made it all possible. She connected me with people that could facilitate the whole event while giving me indications of pricing and extra things I would need to make sure the event ran smoothly. She is extremely professional, prompt with information and details and most of all she really cared about helping me build a bridge to the Ghanaian Diaspora.'
